A couple in their 40s collided with a truck used for transporting fruit on the Ionian state road 106. The two, Vanni Gentile and his partner Domenica Semeraro, died immediately after the impact while the driver of the truck was injured.

Two people died in a serious road accident that occurred on the afternoon of May 5 on the Ionian state road 106, near the junction for Castellaneta Marina (Taranto) in the direction of Reggio Calabria. The victims, according to what we learn, are Vanni Gentile, 46 years old, born in Noci (Bari), and his partner Domenica Semeraro, born in Mottola in 1979.
The two were traveling in a Mini Countryman which crashed into an embankment after a violent collision with a lorry used for transporting fruit at km 465,800. The heavy vehicle overturned on the roadway after the collision, losing its load.
The driver of the truck, originally from Monopoli, was injured but it would not be life-threatening. Gentile and Semeraro, however, died shortly after the collision aboard their Mini Countryman. The 118 health workers, the firefighters and the carabinieri intervened on site, entrusted with the task of reconstructing the exact dynamics of the accident and establishing responsibilities. The road was closed to traffic with traffic diverted onto alternative routes.

According to what was made known, the rescuers tried to save the lives of the two spouses involved in the car crash, but without success: for the two 40-year-olds, in fact, the paramedics who intervened and the firefighters who extracted them from their car were unable do nothing other than confirm his death despite the efforts made by the first responders.
The dynamics of the facts For the moment everything still remains to be ascertained with the Carabinieri who carried out the necessary investigations after helping the road authorities to restore the safety and practicability of the Ionian state road 106, the road on which the tragic accident which cost the lives of two people occurred.
