There are now 2 weeks left until Sunday 19 May, the date decided by The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to carry out its annual march useful to raise awareness on the topic of male prevention on the issues of prostate cancer and mental health.
On Sunday 19 May, also in Reggio Calabria, once again, for the third year in a row, with Fabio BENSAJA, Official Host of the Ride, this event will take place which this time will embrace the Ionian coast of the city arriving at Melito Porto Salvo where the preparations are underway to host the hundreds of Gentlemen Riders who choose our city every year for what is now known to be one of the most eccentric Rides, certainly the most important motorcycle solidarity event in the world.
This year we start at 8 in the morning from the Lido Stella Marina in Pentimele which wanted to host the demonstrators to show another glimpse of our splendid coast. While waiting for the departure, the very nice GentleDogs will parade, the very elegant motorcyclist dogs organized by Daniela Ferro, owner of “Mondo Cane Atelier del Cane e del Gatto”, while the gentlemen and gentlewomen will enjoy the attentions of the barbers and hairdressers made available by Anna Scopelliti, owner of “Barberia Shaves Trimes”. Once set off, the journey will take the participants inside the city and then reach the Melito seafront where Coldiretti has planned a retro-style “market” where the delicacies that characterize the area will be offered to gentlemen; They will also be welcomed by a special Caffo station which will reward most of the gentlemen and gentlewomen participating in the various prize categories with Amaro del Capo. The presence of companies present at the awards ceremony is increasing and we will have the complete list in the next few days.
Various associations are involved in the organisation, including the pro loco of Melito and associations that promote the territory as the DGR is also an important showcase and also an opportunity to show our local beauties to the numerous gentlemen who come specifically to Calabria, and in particular Reggio, to participate in this edition of the Ride.
As always, therefore this year too, the event and all costs are supported by the organizers and supporters and no public contribution is used other than availability for transit and parking, and in this case the Municipality of Melito has proven not to only proactive but also operational right from the start to best present his best.
At the moment the volunteers and motor clubs of the city and the province are in excitement and are all collaborating for the best success of the Ride which in 2022 saw the participation of 366 crews and 377 in 2023… how many gentlemen and ladies will be parading on the our territory in 2024? We’ll find out soon; in the meantime, registrations (free and compulsory) are open, it is sufficient to do so on the official DGR website where it is also possible to make donations which go directly and entirely to Movember which has always fought prostate cancer and does its utmost for health mental health of men (note: no figures gravitate locally).
