Present were the general secretary of Anci Veronica Nicotra, Riccardo Monaco general director of the administrative capacity strengthening office of the department for cohesion policies and for the south and Marcello Fiori head of the Public Function department.
A moment of public discussion between mayors, government, economic actors and experts on the role of the capital municipalities in the Central-Northern Regions in the construction of development policies for the country. This is the objective of the conference “109 Cities in one country. The capital cities of Italy” which will be held on May 8th at 10:00 in Rimini near Rockisland.
The conference, which is part of the MediAree project, will see the participation of the general secretary of Anci Veronica NicotraOf Riccardo Monaco Director General Office for Administrative Capacity Building for Cohesion Policies of the Department for Cohesion Policies and for the South and Marcello Fiori head of the Civil Service department.
The works, opened by Luca Vecchimayor of Reggio Emilia and president of Anci Emilia-Romagna and from Jamil Sadegholvaadmayor of Rimini, will see the participation of the mayors: Giorgio Angelo Abonante (Alexandria), Chiara Frontini (Viterbo), Davide Galimberti (Varese), Alessandro Ghinelli (Arezzo) Sandro Parcaroli (Macerata), Alessandro Canelli (Novara) Marco Fioravanti (Ascoli Piceno), Patrizia Manassero (Wedge), Mattia Palazzi (Mantua), Alessandro Tomasi (Pistoia) Paolo Calcinaro (Stopped), Mario Conte (Treviso), Michele De Pascale (Ravenna) and of Loris Sartorecouncilor for territorial planning and mobility of the municipality of Aosta.
The provincial capital cities are the backbone of the Italian economic and social system: out of a total of 109 capital municipalities, 69 are those in the Centre-North of the country, with a territorial extension of approximately 11 thousand square kilometres. Since 2020, ANCI has been engaged in the implementation of the MediAree Project which, as part of the Operational Program Complementary to the PON Governance, under the direction of the Department of Public Function, aims to strengthen the capabilities of Medium Cities in governance and large area strategic planning.
The meeting in Rimini follows the one held last March in Brindisi which focused attention on the specific problems of the capital municipalities of the Center and South which are part of the project promoted by Anci.
