Will it be mathematical salvation? After the three fundamental points gained, despite suffering, against Tavagnacco and the +6 on the third-last place, Freedom FC Women hopes to close their salvation accounts definitively: the blue and whites are busy on the Cesena pitch in the third-last day of the Women’s Serie B. Undoubtedly a difficult and demanding match, against one of the most competitive teams of the tournament, not surprisingly fourth in the standings and for a long time a potential third trouble in the duel at the top between Lazio and Ternana. Mister Michele Ardito’s team, which recovers Di Lascio in midfield after the suspension served in the midweek of May 1st, will however seek physical and mental energy, after a tight race for salvation, to emerge with a positive result from Martorano of Cesena. If this is not the case, it will take over 24 hours of waiting to understand if it will be 100% Serie B or if we will have to fight again: the fourteenth-placed Pavia Academy, in fact, will only take to the field on Monday evening (8.30 pm), in the postponement against Parma , third and in full battle to snatch a place in the playoffs.
THE OPPONENT – Cesena is currently fourth in the standings with 64 points, the result of 21 wins, one draw and 5 defeats. The Romagna team led by Alain Conte can boast the third best attack in the championship and a prolific goal-scoring duo, formed by Sofieke Jansen and Martina Sechi, capable of scoring 17 times each. The Bianconere, however, are returning from a 2-0 defeat in the high-altitude direct clash with Ternana which put away dreams of a second place finish. The first leg ended 1-2 at the “Fratelli Paschiero” Stadium, with the guests mocking the Cuneo team in a late comeback: after Burbassi’s goal, Cesena reversed the score in the second half thanks to Sechi’s centers and, with 3′ left from 90′, Mak.
Cesena-Freedom FC Women will be played at the “Martorano” sports facility, on field 1, in Martorano di Cesena. The referee Mario Picardi from the Viareggio section will direct the match, assisted by assistants Angelo Di Curzio from Civitavecchia and Valerio Brizzi from Aprilia. Kick-off, Sunday 5 May (3pm): the match will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of Be.Pi TV, the official broadcaster of the Women’s Serie B.
