Like every year, the Madonna of San Luca she landed in Bologna. On Saturday 4 May the statue left the sanctuary on Colle della Guardia, transported on a fire brigade vehicle. Before reaching Bologna, the procession observed some stops, including the House of the Missionary Sisters in Via del Terrapieno and the Fire Brigade, symbolically thanking them for the work done in Suviana. The massacre of the hydroelectric power plant will have a very important role in the week in which the Madonna of San Luca will remain in the city. On Wednesday 8 May, at 5.45 pm, the statue will be accompanied to the churchyard of the basilica of San Petronio: at the blessing, in addition to the archbishop Matteo Zuppi and to the mayor Matteo Leporethe relatives of the victims of Bargi and the mayors of the municipalities of origin of the victims will be invited, as well as the mayor of Camugnano and the president of the Union of Municipalities of the Apennines.
After a week of residence in St. Peter’s Basilica, in via Indipendenza, the Madonna will be brought back to San Luca on Sunday 12 May at 5pm. The procession will pass through Piazza Malpighi, Porta Saragozza and the Meloncello arch, from where the ascent towards Colle della Guardia. “We need the presence of Mary as the first Christian community – said Cardinal Zuppi – so that our testimony of the Risen One is authentic and courageous. We ask you to give us the antidote to the pandemic, discrimination, violence, hatred, indifference and individualism. The venerated image of the Madonna of San Luca descends into the cathedral, in the heart of our city, at Easter time, to be a sign of hope, of resurrected life and of new creation, of which, together with her, we are all creators and witnesses ”.
