Some ideas to frame the theme

Digital Euro, Innovation & Blockchain Technology: words that are increasingly common in everyday life. Let’s delve deeper into the topic together with Matteo Rondina, Marketing and Retail Manager of BCC Fano.

Digital Euro, but what does it mean?

«The European Central Bank is working, together with the national central banks of the euro area countries, on the introduction of the digital euro. It is a digital currency directly issued by the central bank, an electronic equivalent of cash. It is a historic innovation with potentially significant impacts for everyone, companies and citizens. The particularities of a digital euro and the differences compared to the current scenario are right at the center of one of the main interventions of the workshop and are far from obvious, but substantial”.

Why does the ECB intend to introduce the Digital Euro?

«The reasons are multiple and transversal, some linked to technological and digital evolution, others linked to macroeconomic issues and the need to strengthen the monetary sovereignty of the euro area and competition in the payments sector. Last but not least, issues related to inclusiveness because the Digital Euro will be accessible to all and free of charge, the impact will also be important for the banking sector”.

Why will there be impacts for the banking sector?

«Because today citizens do not have access to money in digital format, except through private operators, such as banks. We speak, precisely, of private money referring to the money created by banks when they grant loans or hold citizens’ deposits and enable them to make payments via digital services or cards: these are all transfers of private money. The Digital Euro, on the other hand, is equal to cash, i.e. public money, it becomes to all intents and purposes digitalised cash and this is a big difference that we will address during the workshop because it requires in-depth analysis and clarity of presentation, we are talking about an important paradigm evolution”.

How will the Digital Euro work?

«The detailed operation is being studied, during the workshop Andrea Coppini himself, Head of the Digital and Innovation Division of the BCC Iccrea Group, will talk about it, we are honored that he took up this challenge and our invitation to return a scenario on the topic to the territory , we are pioneers in this. But we will not only talk about Digital Euro but also about the technologies that are and will be increasingly enabling for this innovation and for many others with impacts mainly for companies”.

What technologies are we mainly talking about? In the title of the workshop we find Blockchain…

«Blockchain is probably the best-known Distributed Ledger technology (distributed ledger) made famous because it is the basis of so-called cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. These technologies will have a huge transformative impact in the near future, we are talking about one of the most relevant technological innovations since the advent of the internet itself. To talk about it during this workshop we have the honor of being able to count on an exceptional partner, an international group based in Senigallia, Namirial Group, among the most active and committed companies at European level to realize the digital transformation, with concrete business cases and pilot projects, such as the European Digital Identity Wallet. Davide Coletto Chief Technology Officer of Namirial Spa will be with us and will discuss the topic: “Digital Innovation in Europe and Distributed Ledger technologies: impact on the competitiveness of companies and use cases”».

A meeting certainly not to be missed for companies, consultants and professionals. Why is this important for young people?

«For at least two reasons: the opportunity that these innovations open up in terms of developing skills and needs of companies with impacts on the future of work and, no less importantly, the potential introduction of substantial changes in the use and management of economies and finances in the everyday life. I wouldn’t miss a meeting like this.”
