On Saturday 4 May at the Pala Maragliano in Genoa Prato, Rimont Progetti Genova met the Emilian side Fatro Ozzano (BO) in a delicate match for the rankings.
The first set saw the team led by Matteo Zanoni suffer a lot from the aggressiveness of their opponents, but from the second half onwards the match was very balanced enough to reach the final tie break which saw Rimont Progetti Genova conquered the set and the match.
It was undoubtedly a difficult season also due to the long trips to Emilia Romagna, but this team would have deserved something more considering that the defeats were often decided by very low scores.
There is some regret for this result considering the commitment of the technical staff and of all the girls, even those who played less, seen both in training and in matches where the team always gave its all to achieve a positive result.
“We win a see-saw match which unfortunately is irrelevant for the purposes of the standings due to the simultaneous victory of other teams – comments Zanoni – we leave this confrontation with our heads held high with the awareness of having tried to the end. It is not yet the time for analysis, but there is great disappointment, especially for the girls who have never held back in their work; we will honor this season until the last championship. I thank the large and warm audience who came last night to watch the match and support us.”
For the next season the federation has decided to reduce the groups of the B1 series from 5 to 4 and consequently the relegations have gone from three to four. The results on the field thus condemned the Genoese team to relegation to Serie B2.
On Saturday 11 May Rimont Progetti Genova will honor its progress in this championship by playing its last match in Reggio Emilia against Tirabassi & Vezzali.
