Party forexpansion of the Pandiramerino nursery, in via Ferdinando Martini in District 2 in Florence, opened in 2013 and currently managed by the Arca cooperative. The councilor for Education Sara Funaro and representatives of the Education and Technical Services Departments of the Municipality also participated in the celebration.
The design was carried out with the contribution of municipal technicians and developed with the collaborative work of the municipal offices, the pedagogical coordination and the working group of the cooperative that manages the structure, also involving the families. The latter collaborated with the administration, also giving their contribution in the choices regarding the new environments, such as the choice of colors of the rubber floors of the new spaces on the upper floor.
“It was a nice moment of celebration – said councilor Sara Funaro – Thanks to the expansion, this nursery will be able to welcome more boys and girls from next September, in particular between 3 and 12 months. This structure will allow us to provide greater responses to the needs of families in the neighborhood.”
Until July 2024 the nursery has 55 places available, from September 2024 there will be the possibility of welcoming 72 children, going from 3 to 4 sections. “Our administration has invested heavily and for some time in nursery schools and schools – continued Funaro -. With the interventions we are carrying out we will guarantee efficiency, innovation and safety to the structures and make the environments more beautiful and comfortable”.
The expansion works also led to the construction of two living rooms dedicated to play and activities, two sleeping rooms, two bathrooms for boys and girls, a laboratory dedicated to reading, a laboratory dedicated to graphic, pictorial and media education activities, a warehouse, a bathroom for adults, a distribution space dedicated to reception and changing rooms for staff.
Furthermore, one was built fire escape, which leads to the nursery garden. New furnishings were also purchased for the laboratories, for symbolic play, for motor play and for daily care moments. The extension of the stroller shelter is also planned and an integration of the furnishings and tools useful for preparing meals has also been planned, to guarantee the quality of the service provided by the kitchen inside the nursery.
