From 6 to 12 May in Largo Giannella. Lots of new things for all tastes
The Villaggio del Gusto starts again. The event is scheduled from 6 to 12 May on Largo Giannella in Barinow in its tenth edition, intends to promote the Apulian territory through the quality of Apulian craft beer and local street gastronomy with the aim of recovering and enhancing the vocation of a territory rich in traditional, simple, natural and genuine recipes with respect for the environment, education on taste and food culture.
In particular, from 6 to 9 May the now consolidated event linked to traditional gastronomy and craft beer from Puglia will take place on the occasion of the Feast of San Nicola, while from 10 to 12 May the “Villaggio del Gusto” will be transformed into the del Giusto” and, in collaboration with LeZZanZZare and other associations active in the social sector, will promote a series of inclusive events such as:
- award ceremony for craft breweries active in social inclusion processes
- award ceremony for socially active food & beverage activities
- awarding authorities and personalities active in the social world
- “See what you drink” – blind tastings with blind sommeliers and blindfolded audiences
- “Feel that you are eating” – Lessons in LIS (Sign Language) dedicated to gastronomic pairings
- concerts and DJ sets with disabled artists
For this occasion, the “Villaggio del Giusto” award was established, this year named after the figure of Pine Tulipsthe first guarantor of the rights of people with disabilities in the Puglia Region who passed away in 2020, historically committed to helping people with autism, mental and behavioral disorders and protagonist of numerous battles in defense of fragile people.
The following will be awarded the “Villaggio del Giusto” recognition: SBAM brewery – Social Brewery Alta Murgia – Campo dei Miracoli coop. social – Poggiorsini (BA), Birra Pugliese brewery – Leverano (TA), Iacobus brewery – Boccale Solidale association – Bitetto (BA), “Riccardo Lotti – Umberto I” Higher Secondary Education Institute – Andria (BT), Kalipè coop. social – Conversano (BA) and Help ATT association – Bari.
Furthermore, special awards for the commitment to spreading the values of inclusion and legality will be given to: Don Angelo Cassano (priest and representative of the Libera association), Lorenzo Moretti (Hi Vinny Foundation), Maurizio Galeazzi (deputy commissioner of the State Police), Recommends Margiotta (Italian Red Cross of Bari), Veronica D’Auria (UISP Bari) e Serena Ambrosi (Second Mother Association)
The “Villaggio del Gusto 2024 – CAB Edition” will see the presence of 30 food stands with menus selected by the “Mordi La Puglia” network and 6 Apulian craft breweries selected by the network of Craft Brewers of Puglia, with over 50 styles of beers paired with rotation.
Among the novelties of the gastronomic proposals of this edition of the event are the spaghetti all’assassina, the Sicilian gourmet arancini, the Neapolitan rotisserie and pastry shop, the real Abruzzo kebabs combined with the Ascoli olives, the Lecce pittule and pasticciotti, the Lucanian strazzata, passing from Podolici burgers to caciocavallo hanged with pulled pork, cured meats from Norcia and those from Calabria, fried chicken and nougats from Gallipoli, Sicilian pistachio in all its variations, as well as the classic proposals of the Villaggio del Gusto such as panzerotti from Bari, sgagliozze, focaccia from Bari and Altamura, roasted octopus but also sandwiches with roasted meats raised in Puglia, bombette and zampina, fried chips and fish&chips from Galatina, sandwiches with porchetta from Grumo Appula, gourmet sandwiches stuffed with local artisanal cured meats and cheeses, breasts from Venere di Noci, handmade Apulian taralli and typical dishes of Bari cuisine.
This year there will also be a stand entirely dedicated to gluten-free products, including a gluten-free craft beer from Puglia.
