Lorenzo Biagi remembers his father Marco

In view of the Day of Remembrance dedicated to the victims of terrorism, which is celebrated on 9 May each year (the date on which the statesman Aldo Moro was killed in 1978), the Benigno Zaccagnini association organizes the meeting “My father Marco Biagi: young people and work”.
The appointment is for Monday 6 May at 9pm at the Palazzo del Ridotto in Cesena (piazza Almerici 12). Lorenzo Biagi, Marco’s son, and Chiara Pazzaglia, president of the Acli of Bologna, will speak. “The most important teaching that my father left me is this: having the courage to always carry forward your own ideas, but always respecting those of others”, are the words of Lorenzo Biagi, son of the intellectual who Zaccagnini association remembers twenty-two years after the barbaric assassination.

Professor Biagi, a concrete and innovative economist and jurist, with his White Paper committed himself to changing the conditions of the labor market, always placing attention on the weakest groups. Ahead of his time, he explained how «the need to create work must also be accompanied by attention to the quality of the work itself, because where there is no good work there are no fair, supportive and forward-looking companies». One of his objectives was the launch of the “Labour Statute”, designed to cover those profiles not yet born in the early 70s, at the birth of the Workers’ Statute.

“The Statute of Works – wrote Biagi a week before being assassinated – should finally give Italy new techniques to regulate all types of work, even atypical ones, reviewing old rules no longer in tune with the modern organization of work”. “I think the time has truly come to recover this precious teaching – comments Damiano Zoffoli, president of the Benigno Zaccagnini association – in the name of full economic democracy with the participation of workers in the strategic decisions of companies, according to the best European experiences”. The meeting is organized in collaboration with the ACLI of Emilia-Romagna, the CISL Romagna trade union and the Catholic Action of the diocese of Cesena-Sarsina. It has the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Cesena Foundation, the Bcc Romagnolo, the F.Or Foundation. and Orogel.
