Monica A. Anderson, 53, of Fairmount, passed away peacefully at Francis House on May 1st, after a courageous three-year battle with ovarian cancer. Throughout her life, Monica was an advocate for those who needed assistance, especially children. Through her work at Vera House, Liberty Resources, Catholic Charities and the Syracuse City School District, she touched the lives of so many children and their families. Monica was a graduate of West Genesee High School, attended Onondaga Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University.
Monica will be welcomed into heaven by her father, Thomas A. Anderson, and her brothers, Thomas and Christopher Anderson. Left to cherish Monica’s memory are her mother, Helen (Hartnett) Anderson of Fairmount, her sister and brother-in-law Katherine and David Bidwell of Syracuse, her sister, Maureen Anderson of Fairmount and her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Ellen Anderson of Camillus. Monica also leaves behind what brought her the greatest joy in her life, her nephews Thomas Bidwell of Tampa, Florida, Robert Bidwell of Syracuse, her niece Ella Anderson and her nephew, Jack Anderson, both of Camillus as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins ​​and friends. Monica considered her her best friends Tim Perkins, Lisa Turner and their children as her her West Coast Family her. Their close friendship was extremely important to Monica.
Monica was a creative, thoughtful, loving and caring person. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
At Monica’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Fairmount on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 12:30PM. Burial will be private at a later date.
