GALLARATE – It will still be a “Il Fare” shopping center in Gallaratebut with profound transformations of the structure that arises abandoned for fifteen years now on the corner between via Venegoni and viale Lombardia. These would be the intentions of the company that won the property last February for a value of 1.3 million euros.
Down the parking garage
Very little still transpires about real intentions of the property which in recent weeks presented itself to the Municipality for an initial informal discussion. Among imaginative hypotheses, suggestions and desires, in recent months, in particular on social media, numerous hypotheses have been put forward, such as the establishment of an Ikea or a large sports center. None of this: it was born as a shopping center and will remain so. However, its conformation will be modified, going to eliminate congenital defects which, at least in part, jeopardized its success. Primarily the multi-storey car park, a real labyrinth, with ramps so narrow that they discouraged many customers from approaching. For this reason will be demolishedrecovering the stalls underground and on the surface.
New commercial center
Even the commercial area, with its dark and uninviting corridorswill be partially replaced, preferring the insertion of single units spread out, small and medium sales structure up to 1,500 square metres. In short, the new “Il Fare” will be redesigned along the lines of current development models: no longer galleries but small commercial citadels, as was done in nearby Busto Arsizio at the former Mizar. Naturally these are preliminary projects at the moment which will then have to be compared to urban planning and economic investment constraints. When it opened in 2007, the Sciaré commercial center boasted a total surface area of 20,000 square meters with inside it 75 stores (but never opened more than 50) and a chain supermarket Big market. A project that never took off, so much so that he closed after just two years of activity. It was a resounding and unexpected failure.
