now an exhibition in Brescia

Each of his paintings hides a mystery. An enigma to be deciphered. There is no need to bother with the great masterpieces of art, from the Mona Lisa onwards, but this too is a detail that, in a pictorial context, can fascinate. Let’s take, for example, the portrait of Saint Martin, which due to its dimensions recalls a large altarpiece from the sixteenth century: why is the horse adorned with stars? And why does he hold the saint’s cloak in place with one paw? And why does the saint, in a very contemporary version, have patches on his trousers? And, again, what meaning do the bracelets and the ring that Saint Martin shows off with a proud look have? But above all, who is Saint Martin? This last question is easy to answer: he is a friend of the painter. A bit like Francesco Boneri known as Cecco del Caravaggiowho before becoming a painter was the model for several of his friend’s canvases.

A work of art often hides details that escape at first glance. Even to the second. There are some signs that are interpreted only after several investigations, and others that will probably never be perceived or understood. The art that fascinates us so much is a mystery and “plays” on this aspect Angelo «Alfo» Andreoli61 year old painter from Bergamo, born in Sarnico, but raised in Adrara San Martino in his parents’ bar where, while still a child, stealing colors from his painter father, he enjoyed “smearing” the walls of the bar, almost like a graffiti artist before his time.

An innate streak that made him an all-round artist: painter, set designer, costume designer, installer. There is no artistic field that Andreoli does not stimulate with a creativity which, however, finds its maximum expression in painting. Realistic and very Caravaggesque, with mysterious ideas and motivations that appear in every canvas. Furthermore, large canvases with a production that diversifies into several lines. In the one called «The Devotees», mysterious characters show their bare chests where various types of hearts are set; the heart of thorns, the electric heart, the tattooed heart. Each heart tells the story of the character portrayed. Thus, again, in a long suture we read the personal story of a “crazy heart”, subjected to a surgery that left a long scar. After the great success recorded at «Venice Art 2022», an exhibition with 350 artists from all over Italy, in which Andreoli was the most voted artist in the visitors’ contest, the artist is back on stage with an exhibition of his works in Brescia at Propaganda3 Factory (in via Dalmazia) in an unprecedented mix between a professional and working environment and art.
