Also for 2024, Calabria is positioned at the top of the Italian Green Flag ranking with the highest number of “child-friendly” tourist locations

At the end of May the list of locations chosen by paediatricians as child-friendly beaches will be made known, but from what transpires to date also for 2024, as happened in 2023 (READ)Calabria will be the queen among the green flags in Italy.

With summer just around the corner, the date on which the 2024 Green Flags will be revealed is approaching, i.e., as mentioned, the list of locations selected by a community of paediatricians as the most suitable for hosting children and teenagers. On May 29th, the complete list of destinations friendly to little swimmers who have obtained reconfirmation, and those who have won the banner in this new edition, will be revealed.

CALABRIA, ALSO IN 2024 THE REGION WITH THE MOST GREEN FLAG IN ITALY

The pediatrician Italo Farnetani, creator of the initiative which involves paediatricians distributed throughout the peninsula in the applications of the localities (and also foreigners, in total over 2,900 doctors), anticipates the podium of the Regions with the most banners which he reserves for Calabria with little satisfaction. “We can confirm – Salute Farnetani told AdnKronos – that also for 2024 Calabria, as for many years, is the Italian region with the highest number of places awarded the Green Flag for paediatricians”. The tip of the country therefore maintains its lead (last year it obtained 20 green flags out of a national total of 154), always followed by Sicily, the expert informs.

“The locations chosen by the paediatricians have all the characteristics to offer a beach suitable for children and a sea that can be used safely as well as services suitable for children and families”, noted Farnetani, full professor of paediatrics at the University Ludes-United Campus of Malta, which takes the opportunity to also launch an “appeal to all tourist operators from beach establishments, to hotels, to local administrations”. “Focus a lot on entertainment” for children and young people, he urged. “Precisely because it is an important element of socialization and entertainment, which has been sorely missed during the Covid period”.
