BASKETBALL, FROM OPTICAL VIRTUS MOLFETTA TO THE PROMOTION PLAY-OFFS

Preparations are underway at Virus in view of the debut in the last phase of this very long and exciting season. There DAI Optical Virtus Basket Molfetta is preparing to compete in the promotion playoffs which will see it opposed in the final eight Sala Consilina Basketball.

In this phase the white and blues will represent Puglia being the only Apulian team to have accessed the promotion playoffs. After the fourth place obtained in the Play-in Gold, the team trained by coaches Carolillo is ready to compete against the best teams from southern Italy, protagonists of the Interregional Serie B championship.

After a season played practically always at the top of the rankings, for the white and blues there are no longer any calculations to make to dream of the B Nazionale. A dutiful reference must be made to the formula studied by the FIP which will decide the winning team of the playoffs, the same one that will rise to the National Serie B next season.

As underlined, 8 teams are admitted to the quarter-finals: in addition to Virtus Molfetta and Pallacanestro Sala Consilina, the draw includes Ragusa, Orlandina, Salerno, Messina, Milazzo and Reggio Calabria. The winner between Virtus Molfetta and Sala Consilina will face the winner between Messina and Orlandina in the semi-final.

Due to a better ranking, DAI Optical Virtus Basket Molfetta will face Sala Consilina Basketball at Pala Poli in Game 1 with a tap-off set for Wednesday 8 May at 8.30 pm; Race 2 will be held on Sunday 12 May at 6pm in Sala Consilina for a return to the Pala Poli in Molfetta in the possible Game 3 scheduled (only in case of a draw in the first two matches) on May 15th at 8.30 pm.

Almost two weeks of stoppage for the white and blues after the last match played in Capo d’Orlando. The DS spoke about the state of health of the team and its ambitions Mauro Lot. «After the stop of these weeks we will start again from Sala Consilina – he has declared – we are preparing for a series of very complicated matches against one of the best constructed teams, despite the absence of Alberto Triassi, out due to injury.

The difficulties will be seen from the first match that we must manage to make our own. After the last two defeats we didn’t get discouraged because we came very close to first place. Just think – continued Lot –That to Capo d’Orlando we went down by 23 points and a few minutes from the end we were even ahead by 3 points. This means we can play with anyone».

It will be important to start with a victory already on Wednesday 8 May in Game 1 where the team will need all the support of the public. For the occasion and to ask the fans for important support, the club has planned a Pro Virtus Day. «It’s time to answer the call and all show our unconditional commitment – this is what we read in an excerpt of the letter written by Virtus to its fans and published entirely on the club’s social channels – Every shout, every clap, every clap counts. Now, more than ever, our boys need everyone’s warmth and support to continue this extraordinary race towards the National Serie B.”

In the day Pro Virtus, subscriptions and credits will not be valid. It will be possible to access the Pala Poli to watch Game 1 against Sala Consilina by purchasing a ticket at a cost of 5 euros. Free admission will be confirmed only for under 14s. The purchase of the entrance ticket will entitle you to participate in the official merchandising prize draw.
