“Not before 2025. Actually, no, it doesn’t give me any available dates at all. I advise you to take a tour of Campobasso…”. It is the response of an operator of the Cup of the “Riuniti” of Foggia to the request for an MRI with priority code “B” (Short, service to be performed within 10 days). It is the sad image of the regional health system, which in Capitanata is at its worst due to passive mobility data, journeys of hope which cost hundreds of millions of euros from taxpayers and which burden the already precarious economy of citizens. In recent days the issue has been brought to the Region by some regional councilors, who forcefully asked for a change of pace.
“Our requests for urgent rotation of department directors, regional managers, local health authority directors and very tough measures to combat healthcare waiting lists could be accepted. We are waiting to read this desire in a document, black and white, perhaps with the support and approval of the other parties, to try to give meaning to this remnant of the legislature”, declared the regional councilors Fabiano Amati, Sergio Clemente and Ruggiero Menneacommenting on the meeting held today with President Michele Emiliano and all the regional managers of the health department.
“To do something concrete and combat all forms of opacity, we presented our recipe. Rotation of all department directors, in view of the next appointments following the procedure already started. Simultaneous and immediate rotation of all regional managers in service for more than three years in the same function, as desired by the same Anti-Corruption Plan approved by the Regional Council and unfortunately not applied. Rotation of all the general directors of the local health authorities, now out of office due to pharmaceutical spending overruns and with unflattering budget performances, so much so that without any increase in performance in 2023 they achieved almost 39 million euros in losses, despite increased transfers of 300 million euros”.
