Novara – The Spazio Viva Vittoria Novara officially opened to the public on Monday 29 April with a coming and going of enthusiastic people, located in via Alcarotti 1 in Novara and is now open every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 10am to 1pm. The space is open also on Wednesdays from 9pm to 11pm for the workshop of the Il Cerchio Magico association (which organizes Viva Vittoria Novara together with Attivalamente e il corpo, Agorà Donatello, CreAttivi). The opening on other days and times will be evaluated soon.
In this place, all the squares delivered to the approximately 30 collection points scattered throughout the city and in the province will converge, those created by the same number of working groups and laboratories activated so far in the area, the blankets will be assembled and sewn for the imposing artistic installation of solidarity, which will cover Piazza Martiri on November 24th, and the activities connected to the event will be organised.
“On the first day of opening alone – say the volunteers from the Il Cerchio Magico association who will take turns to ensure presence – they delivered 52 squares to us. In three hours we welcomed many people. Valentina, 20 years old, arrived with a square made by her grandmother and one of her own, which she began and continued in our company, then the former owner of the fabric shop who was in these premises for many years, then Mariella who brought us I also gave her some sweets made by her. And many other women. This day was particularly exciting also because we sewed the first blanket, made up of four squares, with the red Viva Vittoria national thread and applied the label, also from Viva Vittoria national, with the number 1 of the project in Novara. We are happy with this enthusiasm and we hope to be able to welcome more and more people here, also for our Wednesday evening workshop. We decided to move it here because we no longer fit in the Agorà Donatello headquarters. Every week people were added to knit with us, then others arrived to deliver the squares, still others to ask for information. Anyone who wants to come will be welcome. For those who want to stop and knit, however, we ask, if possible, to bring one thing in addition to the tools of the trade: the chair. We have some available, but there may not be enough for everyone yet.”
