The 5th and 6th stages of the Giro d’Italia will take place on 8 and 9 May respectively, which will involve the municipalities of Lucca, Camaiore, Massarosa, Pescaglia, Pietrasanta, Seravezza and Viareggio, according to the itinerary indicated in the tables below.
The related safety and security profiles were examined last May 2nd by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the prefect Giusi Scaduto, in which the mayor of Lucca Mario Pardini, the police commissioner Edgardo Giobbi, the provincial commander participated of the Carabinieri Arturo Sessa, the provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Marco Querqui, the director of the traffic police Pietro Ciaramella, the representatives of the Municipalities involved, the Fire Brigade, 118, Anas and RCS organizer of the event . All the competent state and local administrations in various capacities will contribute to the completion of the complex of services planned in the circumstance, according to the already consolidated coordination and cooperation model. Among the measures taken, the closure of extra-urban roads by the prefecture and city roads by the Mayors, the details and updates of which can be found on the respective institutional websites. It should be noted that for circulation on the motorway network, from 5 am to midnight on Wednesday 8 May, heavy vehicles heading to or coming from Garfagnana must use the Capannori toll booth for exiting and entering the A11 respectively. Those heading to Seravezza will instead have to use the Versilia exit on the A12 motorway, traveling along via GB Vico, the SP68 and the SP9; reverse route for those moving in the opposite direction.
