The phenomenon of illegal taxi drivers knows no respite: as the summer season approaches, reports increase, especially in places besieged by tourists, from the Naples Central station to the Maritime Station, obviously passing through the Naples Capodichino international airport. And it was precisely near the latter that the agents of the Airport Operations Unit of the Local Police of Naples intervened and, together with the State Police, checked licenses and cars parked in front of the airport, while they were preparing to “load” citizens and tourists who have just arrived in the Neapolitan capital.

Twenty taxis and chauffeur-driven rental vehicles (NCC) were checked, with 12 violations found. In particular, three illegal taxi drivers were caught, one of whom didn’t even have insurance. Among the others checked and sanctioned, however, there is another taxi driver who was found driving with an expired licence, two others without the on-board fare list regularly displayed and yet another who, after having accompanied the customers, had not issued any authorization procedure. payment of the predetermined fee. The latter, in fact, is a fixed rate from some places and which taxi drivers must display on a par with those for the central station or the maritime station. For example, the journey between Naples Central Station (and neighboring hotels) and Naples-Capodichino Airport costs 18 euros and is not subject to a taxi meter. Price list which must be displayed in the taxiand obligatorily, precisely to facilitate especially tourists with these ad hoc rates.
