Work in the cement plant area, clarifications from mayor Cosimo Cannito

“Following the topical question – declares the Mayor Cosimo Cannito – formulated by the PD group leader in the last municipal council regarding the works inside the cement plant, we inform you that I have arranged an immediate inspection in order to verify the reason for the same. The the report of the inspection was sent to the Director of the Urban Planning Sector to verify the irregularity of the authorization procedures and therefore their possible sanction”.

“We also inform you that the characterization of the soil within the same plant is underway, as per the Cementeria/ARPA agreement, the results of which will be used for the risk document. Finally, it is confirmed that the data published by ARPA regarding the quality of the air refer unequivocally to the ARPA/Extraordinary Commissioner convention (spatial resolution of 1km unhealthy companies in the area in order to allow the municipal administration a preventive assessment. I want to reassure citizens – concludes the Mayor – regarding the constant attention of the Authority towards environmental protection. in compliance with the responsibilities assigned to each, control activities on situations of potential risk and promotion of awareness among the relevant bodies so that the supreme right to health is always guaranteed. Our work perfectly reflects this commitment and, in this regard, I announce that on May 20th, at Palazzo di Città, these topics will be addressed with representatives of the environmentalist associations”.
