Organized by the Interior Ministry in collaboration with the Universities of Turin and Bologna

The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, participated today in Turin at the seminar “Reforms and European charter of local autonomy: principles and perspectives”.

The initiative, hosted at the Prefecture of the Piedmontese capital, was organized by the Internal and Territorial Affairs Department of the Interior Ministry in collaboration with the University of Turin and the ‘Alma Mater’ University of Bologna.

Taking part in the event were, among others, the President of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio, the Head of the Internal and Territorial Affairs Department of the Ministry of the Interior Claudio Palomba, the Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo, the Prefect of Turin Donato Cafagna and the Rector of the University of Turin Stefano Geuna.

«In 1865, the first of Italy’s administrative unification laws was dedicated to the creation of a single system of municipalities and provinces. Even today, updating our system of territorial autonomy means unifying the country. The final goal must be to guarantee greater social cohesion and reduce the disparities that exist today by protecting the civil and social rights of every citizen in an undifferentiated manner throughout the national territory” underlined the head of the Ministry of the Interior during his speech opening.

The conclusions were entrusted to Giuseppe Caia, full professor of administrative law at the University of Bologna
