Lamezia Terme – The “TG Ragazzi della Manzoni-Augruso” has reached its last episode, broadcast with the news of the month of April, the television format branded Manzoni-Augruso and born from an idea of ​​the school director Antonella Mongiardo, who recorded a boom in ratings and views on social media. Thus, the curtain closes on an educational project that stood out for its open and innovative approach, with an interdisciplinary approach and a spirit of service learning, a real bridge between the school and the territory. The project was curated by the representatives Cinzia Iuffrida and Marinella Gambino, who received praise from principal Mongiardo, who drew an extremely positive assessment of the experience, highlighting how “from episode to episode – says the principal – the school news was consolidated as a real television programme, an authentic, complex task full of interesting facets, which made the pupils the protagonists, also open to the local area, increasingly awaited by families and became a point of reference for school information and local”.

The manager Mongiardo also expresses satisfaction for the educational impact on the students who had the opportunity to have their say on current issues close to their world and daily reality, developing social and civic skills, but also skills related to the use of the media and Information literacy in the field of new languages ​​and digital technologies. The programme, broadcast by the television station EsseTV, was followed on television channels and on social media, capturing the attention not only of the school community but also of a wider audience, thanks to the freshness and originality of the contents, always of cultural interest and social. The path built from episode to episode allowed different topics to be addressed, contributing to an enrichment of the institute’s educational offer and promoting the intellectual and social growth of the students.

As always, the April episode addressed the most relevant topics of the month, from the students’ point of view. Among the services presented, the project “And if tomorrow… you were the weak one?” stands out, which involved the classes of the Istituto Comprensivo in activities against cyberbullying and for the promotion of digital ethics, in a path of awareness on the use of the internet which took place in parallel in various educational institutions in Lamezia. Another service, dedicated to safety, concerns a training meeting held with the men and women of the State Police, to talk about legality, cyberbullying and responsibility online. The event was an opportunity to pay homage, in the greetings of the Headmaster Antonella Mongiardo, to the head of the State Police of Lamezia Terme, Dr. Maria Gaetana Ventriglia, in view of her retirement. Still on the subject of safety, the “I don’t risk school” project was mentioned, which involved the students of the third year of primary school at the “T. Augruso” and their teachers in a promotional campaign promoted by the Civil Protection, to raise awareness of seismic risk. Two services on training activities supported by the Istituto Comprensivo with PNRR funds as part of the “Future School” program. The first, on the training event held by the same teachers of the “digital team” on the topics of gamification, which introduced students and teachers to new teaching methodologies in the digital age. The second, on the activation of strengthening and in-depth modules for students in key subjects such as Italian, mathematics, science and English, based on laboratory methodologies, but also interactive laboratories, STEM and citizenship paths, in the name of personalizing learning in practical and inclusive way. The news also gave space to environmental and scientific issues with local news.

The presentation of the first science fiction film (the first of this genre made in Calabria) “Koi-Zero.2, the voyage” directed by Sebastiano Basile: a Calabrian production that dealt with topics such as ecology and artificial intelligence . Furthermore, we talk about the future and innovation with the Cosenza youtuber Corrado Cozza, aka Dadobax, who made his original contribution specifically for the episode of Tg Ragazzi, talking about the evolution of education in the digital age and the new professional opportunities that they derive from it. Finally, a window on the period of guided tours and educational trips that enriched the educational experience of the students of the Comprehensive, allowing them to learn about the naturalistic, historical and geographical heritage of their own and other regions: Reggio Calabria and Santa Severina, the caves of Pertosa and the Certosa di Padula, Campania and immersion in Neapolitan culture. “The success of TG Ragazzi is also reflected in the numbers – concludes the note – with hundreds of views achieved on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and the social channel of the EsseTV broadcaster, demonstrating the interest and appreciation of the public for the work carried out by the young journalists. With the last episode, Manzoni-Augruso’s TG Ragazzi has closed a significant chapter, however leaving a legacy of skills and experiences that will remain a precious heritage for the future of the students involved”.
