Flights diverted and delayed due to an accident at Olbia airport

Accident during the landing phases for a small airplane of ENAV at the airport Costa Smeralda Of Olbia. There were no bad weather problems, but something went wrong. The cart it broke as the aircraft returned to the ground, but fortunately the accident did not have serious consequences. It is a small ENAV plane which is used for technical issues, such as radio measurements and equipment tests. Today, however, it was used to put the Gallura airport’s rescue machine to the test. There are usually two or three people on board and no crew member was reported to have been injured.

The firefighters are on site because they need to remove the aircraft and make the runway safe. The accident obviously had immediate repercussions on air traffic. The EasyJet flight arriving from Milan-Malpensa was diverted to Cagliari and that Volotea from Paris-Orly instead it landed ad Alghero. While waiting for safety conditions to be restored, another four planes departing from Paris, Bergamo, Naples and Milan-Linate are delayed. There are already eight departing flights that are accumulating delays and the repercussions of the accident will continue throughout the day.
