L’wild boar emergency there seems to be no end, at least in Calabria: in fact, several residents, from north to south of the region, find themselves dealing with ungulates which, in addition to representing a danger to public safety, also put their own safety at risk. The last one sighting occurred in the city of Corigliano-Scalo: as evidenced by the video posted on the Facebook page “Schiavonea Beach”, an ungulate wanders inside what appears to be a condominium fence. The sighting took place in via Edmondo De Amicis, an artery in the Corigliano urban area.
Coldiretti Calabria: “danger for farmers and citizens”
“Own Wild boars are also the greatest danger for citizenswith 170 road accidents with deaths and injuries caused in 2023 precisely by impacts with wild boars and other wild animals, according to Coldiretti analysis on Asaps data, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year”. This is what Coldiretti Calabria reports.
“To the damage to crops has been added the alarm of African swine fever, the disease not transmissible to humans which the wild boars present in the area today risk spreading in the countryside, endangering pig farms in the area. Hence the request for put an immediate stop to proliferation of wild animals, giving farmers the opportunity to defend their lands and stop a real invasion”.
