Demonstrations and events on May 1st brought a greater increase in tourists to Bolzano and the other South Tyrolean municipalities. To maintain public order and safety, from last Friday until yesterday morning numerous services were made operational arrangedwith Ordinance, by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano, Paolo Sartori. All the police forces were present, in accordance with what was indicated by the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior and with what was agreed by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, also and above all with a view to preventing any destabilizing initiatives in capable of endangering the safety of citizens and those who have decided to spend a few days of holiday in the area. Demonstrations and events took place in a climate of tranquility and without any disturbance to public order.
However, many activities have been carried out to prevent and repress phenomena of widespread illegality which are part of the broader operational program of territorial control and presence of the police forces in the most sensitive areas of the capital and the province. The scope was monitor sensitive objectives and more complex infrastructures: railways, roads, motorways, railway and bus stations, public institutions, historical, artistic and architectural assets, buildings of worship and places of aggregation. And as well guarantee there transport safety and thesafety of people who took advantage of the holidays to visit museums, restaurants, theatres, public places and so on.
The specific operational activities of general prevention and repression of petty crime and urban decay carried out in the capital saw thedaily employment of around 40 women and men belonging to Preccint, POLFER And Police, Financial Police And Bolzano Local Police. Supported by the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police. Everyone has checked the areas of Druso Avenue, Via Alto Adige, Via dei Cappuccini, Perathoner Street, Garibaldi Street, Mazzini Square, Alley San Giovanni, the train station and the neighboring streetsas well as the streets of the historic centre.

A meticulous control was carried out in some abandoned buildings of the city capital, especially in Climb Sant’Osvaldo and Via Flavon, already the scene of similar police operations and reported by citizens for the same reasons mentioned above. Similar activities were carried out in the remaining Municipalities of the Province, in collaboration with the Local Police.
This type of control has the aim of keeping these areas monitored to prevent critical situations for public order and safety from becoming consolidated. On this occasion, it was found that these buildings are used as occasional shelters.
Other specific checks concerned public establishments, the subject of reports and complaints from citizens for problems of public order and safety, with identification of the people present to prevent and repress delinquent phenomena and to guarantee the tranquility and safety of people.

After the checks and investigative investigations carried out on the 79 subjects with criminal records, identified during the checks, the commissioner has issued 6 Mandatory Street Sheets against as many subjects burdened by precedents of various kinds. They have the banned from returning to Bolzano for the next 4 years; 5 Personal Prevention Measures envisaged by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws (Oral Notices) against criminals caught in suspicious attitudes and places; 4 Expulsion Decrees for as many non-EU citizens present illegally in Italy (they must leave Italy within 7 days); 5 Revocations of the Residence Permit for people who no longer had the requirements to remain on national soil, due to the commission of various types of crimes, with orders to leave our country within 15 days.
