Modena: driving with an alcohol level above the legal limit ends up off the road

A 45-year-old motorist stopped by the Modena local police for driving while intoxicated lost control of her car and ran off the road. The driver, in fact, got behind the wheel even though she was in a state of mild alcohol impairment. In the episode, which occurred around 8.40pm on Tuesday 30 April, no other vehicles were involved and the woman was unharmed.

As reconstructed by the officers, the woman, resident in Modena, was driving the car, a Citroen, along the ring road towards Bologna when, for reasons still under investigation, she skidded shortly after exit 17. The patrols intervened on the spot of the Via Galilei Command to start the planned checks, including the alcohol test.
The examination revealed that the driver was impaired, with an alcohol level of approximately 0.67 grams per liter (the limit is 0.5), placing her in the first range identified by the regulations. In this case, the violation defined by article 186 of the Highway Code is of an administrative nature and provides for the suspension of the license for a period of three to six months and a fine of up to 543 euros. The vehicle, however, owned by another person, was not affected by any measures.
