Caltanissetta – Sonia Bognani is the new president of the Italian Red Cross of Caltanissetta. You take over the baton from Nicolò Piave who is no longer eligible for re-election after eight years of presidency. With her also elected the entire board of directors which will operate in the name of continuity, but with an eye to innovation and improvement.
Sonia Bognani was provincial inspector of the volunteer nurses corps, instructor of international humanitarian law and instructor specialized in principles and values, first aid instructor.
A practically unanimous vote with a percentage of voters that came close to seventy percent of those entitled to vote, just over four hundred in the committee area, even if a single list had been presented.
The new board, however, is made up of the outgoing Marco Lacagnina, Sylvia Genduso, Vincenzo Mirto and the councilor representing young people , Giuseppe Cumia.
In the next few days the regional electoral office will formalize the result of the vote with the proclamation of those elected.
«We must grasp the clear message of the Nisseni volunteers – began Sonia Bognani – the Italian Red Cross of Caltanissetta must continue its path, the incoming board of directors must add new and important stimuli to the volunteers, the true and only lifeblood for the activities, in a committee, which by choice, does not have any employees but bases its action exclusively on volunteers, on Civil Service volunteers, and on social planning. I thank the outgoing board of directors and the president first of all for the work done, I thank the volunteers for this overwhelming trust, and we will do everything so that this trust placed in us can be rewarded by actions aimed at improving activities in favor of the vulnerable… Thank you also to the candidate councilors who were not elected, Salvatore Favata, Antonio Gumina and Calogero Milia for having supported the project with great passion and commitment”.
