At the end of April the Mucci srl Museum and Confectionery, founded in 1984 by Nicola Mucci in the historic center of Andria in via Museo del Confetto 12 (current headquarters), received the recognition of “Historical heritage shop of Puglia”.

One hundred and thirty years ago Nicola Mucci started the first factory in the historic center of the Frederick city, where the “Giovanni Mucci” Museum is currently located. Since then he began producing chocolate, sweets and dragees using the delicious Apulian almonds for the latter. In 1920 the invention of the new “Mandorla Imperial” sweet and about ten years later they created the famous “Tenerelli Mucci”, which became a registered trademark and are still processed today with almonds from Toritto (BA) and “Piedmont Igp hazelnuts”. ”. In 1945 his son Giovanni inherited the factory and from here developed the current Mucci Giovanni brand. The current heirs inaugurated the modern factory in Trani in 1987 where sugared almonds and dragées are still produced today.

For us it is a joy and an honor to have received this recognition – stated Cristian Mucci, marketing manager of Mucci Giovanni 1894 -. It is the icing on the cake that gives us the opportunity to demonstrate that we have many years behind us and that we are part of the local history of Puglia”.

The recognition came following the sending of documentation certifying the activity over the years and the history of the company. Thus in the dossier, which Muccia began to create starting from July 2023, among others, the medal list with all the honors received by the founder Nicola Mucci and his son Giovanni in the early 1900s, a sales proposal to a confectionery in Buenos Aires dated May 31, 1971; the certificate of participation in the Acai of Barletta in 1988, the 15th interregional exhibition of the small artisan industry; the ministerial decree to which the museum was subjected, obtained in 2011.

Collecting these documents was a pleasant journey back in time – explained Cristian Mucci – which attests to how the company has solid foundations and is well rooted in Puglia. An important element of this bond is also the use of local raw materials, primarily the Toritto (BA) almond, present in our flagship products: Tenerelli Mucci”.

Now, after the publication of the bulletin of the Puglia Region on 18 April and the official communication from Confartigianato Puglia, which took place on 23 April, which granted the use of the “Historical heritage shop of Puglia” logo, the official ceremony for the awarding of the awards is awaited .
