Equestrian sports continue to gain great acclaim in Emilia Romagna. After the success of the Italian Show Jumping Championship, held in Cervia, last weekend it was the event that took the stage, this time at the historic Ravennate Equestrian Centre, which hosted the 2024 edition of the Regional Championship of the discipline.
A specialty with unparalleled charm, the suit is at home in Ravennate which has always been one of the major centers of reference at a national level. And even for this edition of the regional championship it certainly did not betray the expectations of either the numerous participants or the large audience who came to support the competitors. In short, a beautiful sporting spectacle with a very appreciable technical level.
“I am satisfied – declared the president of the Fise regional committee Ruggero Sassi – because it was a really good championship. Everything worked, the technical level was solid, there was a good sporting level and above all the competitors and the public had fun. The kids and parents had fun too. It’s nice to see the audience applauding during the awards. After three days of racing, when that applause arrives it has its meaning. We are aware that the Championship arrived a little early in the competition calendar, but we really wanted it to be held in Ravenna. After last year’s edition at Gese, this year the Committee wanted to focus on Ravennate to offer competitors that variety of terrain which adds to the charm of the event. Where the field test and therefore its route play an important role.As a completionist I can say that Fiorentini’s paths for this regional championship were those of real completes, an opinion also shared by the technical delegate Luciano Cantini”.
But a race is not just technical details or results – very important for the competitors but already in the archive the day after the end of the race. A race, or rather, a good race is also made up of special moments and sensations…«I was very favorably impressed by the awards– continues President Sassi. – I really liked them. All the winners on horseback, a well-thought-out ceremony… In short, the entire liturgy of a special moment. Which is what every podium represents: the achievement of an objective for which there is a lot of work behind it… Well, at the Ravennate this moment was celebrated really well. And I realized that I wasn’t the only one who appreciated it. Even the public who came from outside, the parents, the other riders applauded and did not miss a single award ceremony. Many kids even asked me to take photos with them and their parents next to the podium… Nice, isn’t it?».
All things considered, it was a successful Championship, for which President Sassi felt like expressing his very personal compliments, as well as those of the Fise Emilia Romagna Committee, to the CI Ravennate Organizing Committee – President Renato De Lorenzi, to the technical delegate Luciano Cantini, to the judging body composed of Agostino Guerisoli, Massimo Petaccia, Stefania Rizzardo Argenton, Roberto Gatti, Anna Di Chio, Luigi Favaro, Adelmo Mazza, to the steward Cristina Sacchi and to the secretary of Marina Cima.
«My favorite postcard from this Championship? The one with the smiles of the kids, their instructors and the public” concluded Sassi, launching the appointment for the next championship in the region, namely the show jumping championship at the end of May, immediately after Piazza di Siena.
