Averse to the vote. ‘The Politics You Need’ asks for clarity on the candidate for Mayor

This is the press release issued by the former Councilors and Councilors of the Aversa political movement ‘The Politics That Serves’: “The Politics That Serves has waited for about a week for the mayoral candidate, Mauro Baldascino, proposed by the city commissioner of the PD and endorsed by the table of the center left was presented to the Aversa voters – we read in the press release – and then worked on the presentation of the lists of candidates for the city council. Unfortunately in recent days we have witnessed a deafening silence of official communications from the center left political table – it continues the statement – accompanied by a succession of meetings between only some forces at the table and their respective provincial coordinators and institutional supply chains committed to finding an alternative solution to the name of Baldascino.

Only today, in fact, 10 days after the deadline for submitting the lists, in the absence of democratic discussion between all the political forces in the area, we were informed of the convergence of PD and 5s on the change of the candidate for Mayor with the exponent of the 5 Star movement, Filippo Panza. We believe – we read further – that the method used is inadmissible and detrimental to the coalition. The LPCS calls for transparency, correctness and linearity. We are not mere ratifiers of choices made elsewhere. This is not the politics we believe in.

From the continuous turns and waltzes of names, it appears completely clear once again that this centre-left is not at all interested in playing a political game with a vision of the city and of a coalition – the statement continues – but only in completing a settlement of political scores between currents, movements and people who belong to extraterritorial reference areas.

Despite everything and without hiding some critical issues, to safeguard the unity of the center-left coalition, the LPCS assembly had given the green light to Baldascino, signing the document shared and signed by the PD, M5S, Democratic Center, AVS and Aversa Progressista . Now a doubt assails us: is the document – we read again – signed by the coalition in support of the “old” candidate Mayor Baldascino to be considered waste paper? Are the supporting arguments still valid? We therefore ask to know with equal clarity the path and the foundation in support of the “new” candidate Panza, which we will subsequently submit with a loyal democratic spirit to the assembly of our supporters – continues the press release – to decide what to do.
