Hunting, hunting season in Umbria starts on Sunday 15 September

Agreement reached between Region and hunters’ associations

During the session of the Hunting Faunistic Council, which took place in recent days at the offices of the competent regional Department in Palazzo Broletto, unanimous agreement was found with the representatives of the hunters’ associations to outline the essential lines of the hunting calendar 2024/2025, which was pre-adopted during today’s council meeting, Thursday 2 May.

This is the third consecutive year that the Calendar has been launched with the agreement of all hunting associations.

A pre-opening day is scheduled for Sunday 1st September for wild doves, exclusively from ambush, with the use of the specific web application to suspend hunting activity upon reaching the pre-established game bag for the Umbria Region, while a request has been made to ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, an opinion on the possibility of extending the pre-opening to the cancellation. It is also the department’s intention to request an opinion on the possibility of including the gray crow and the magpie in the pre-opening phase.

The general start of the hunt is set for Sunday 15 September 2024, the third Sunday of the month, and will close on 30 January 2025, as required by national law.

Finally, following the discussion with the representatives of the hunting associations, it was decided to confirm a single opening throughout the regional territory for wild boar hunting, set for Sunday 20 October 2024 and closing on 19 January 2025.
