Success for Trieste Spring Young

Great enthusiasm and participation accompanied the holding of the Trieste Spring Young, the first competition scheduled in the Trieste Spring Run calendar (organised by the Apd Miramar in collaboration with the Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, the co-organization of the Municipality of Trieste and the patronage of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region) dedicated to the little ones and made possible thanks to the contribution of the CRTrieste Foundation. Over 1500 very young students from nursery and primary schools in the regional capital took part in the modular courses set up for the occasion in Piazza Unità, enlivening the morning with smiles, music and lots of fun. The event, which involved around fifty schools in Trieste and the surrounding area, officially kicked off the Trieste Spring Run 2024 which has been enlivening the spaces of the city center with sporting, social and cultural events since Monday 29 April.

“Taking care of children and making them have fun like this is an immense joy, these events contribute to improving the quality of life in the city of Trieste, and to giving opportunities for sport and leisure to its citizens – is the comment of the mayor of Trieste Roberto Dipiazza, who spoke at start of the event – My thanks go in particular to the CRTrieste Foundation for renewing its support for the initiative and to the volunteers of Apd Miramar and Asd Trieste Atletica Aps who make the event possible”. From the mayor’s point of view, the novelty represented by the passage of the half marathon on Sunday through Porto Vecchio-Porto Vivo, recently returned to the city, is fundamental. “Remaining on the subject of young people, we are talking about the future of our city, an area of ​​630,000 square meters in the center which represents a huge opportunity for the growth and development of Trieste”.

Also present, representing the Municipality of Trieste, co-organizer of the event, was the Councilor for Real Estate and Sports Policies Elisa Lodi. “This event has a very important meaning, it is a celebration of sport and entertainment and even before that an event that has its roots in an event that has written important pages in the history of Trieste – these are his words – Today’s morning has put young people at the center, who are our future and who we must all commit to preserving together. Now an intense weekend awaits us, with many competitions of a different nature, which together make up a 360° event open to everyone, sportsmen and non-athletes”.

General Secretary Paolo Santangelo brought greetings from the CRTrieste Foundation, which with its contribution made the event possible: “We have supported this initiative since its inception – he underlined – We know well that sport has an extraordinary social and educational value , especially for the little ones. The children present today have been waiting to take part in the race for weeks and it is a joy to see them happy in the symbolic square of the city.” As scheduled, volunteers from Dynamo Camp, charity partner of the event together with the non-profit organization Bambini del Danubio, also took part in the morning and presented their charitable activities to the participants and the public. Dynamo Camp indeed operates. for the right to happiness of children and young people with serious pathologies and their families; offering free recreational therapy programs to children with serious or chronic illnesses, their brothers and sisters and their parents. Climbing, archery, water activities, farm and horse, circus, vegetable gardens, ceramics, hip hop, rap, magical stories, Dynamo Art Factory, Radio Dynamo, Dynamo Studios are just some of the proposals that give children fun , sociability and self-confidence.

On the same day, at 5.00 pm, the inauguration of the Expo Center for registration and collection of bibs took place in Piazza Unità, characterized by the artistic installation by the artist Jan Sedmak created with the contribution of AcegasApsAmga. (a specific press release will be sent in the late afternoon of Thursday 2 May). The Nordic walking route started at 6.00 pm with the Urban Nordic Walking session. In the previous days, numerous events accompanied the Trieste Spring Run. The Treesport Bike Contest took place on Saturday 27 April, the innovative virtual ride that took place inside the stand in Piazza della Borsa: three teams faced each other in an online challenge competing with their own bicycles, connected with the other participants through an e-gaming platform. The following day, Sunday 28 April, the highly anticipated Trieste Spring Art, new to the 2024 edition, was inaugurated: in Piazza della Borsa, the works produced by the students of the UWC of ‘Adriatico, partner of the event.

4-5 MAY, THE WEEKEND INITIATIVES AND THE COMPETITIONS A discipline in constant development and which in recent years, also in Friuli-Venezia Giulia thanks to the commitment of the Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, has achieved important results in terms of popularity and increase in practitioners. We are talking about Nordic Walking, the discipline known, in some cases even erroneously, as “walking with the use of poles” but which has countless identities and above all can be described as a sport open to all. Nordic walking – explains the manager of the Nordic walking sector of the Asd Trieste Atletica Aps Bruno “Bobo Vittori – we will take advantage of these two days, Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May, to talk about our activity, arouse the curiosity of passers-by about the various declinations of Nordic walking and to let people experience the discipline firsthand with a series of workouts. Our first objective, which we always repeat even in words, is to immediately dispel some clichés: on the one hand, Nordic walking is not a sport for the elderly. and on the other hand it is not practicable only by athletes or those coming from athletics. Nordic walking is an extremely inclusive discipline and I invite all interested sports clubs to come especially on Saturday 4 May in Piazza Unità d’Italia from 3pm to 3pm. 4.30pm for the presentations of Speed ​​Hiking and the Certified Nordic Walking School”. In the rich program of events, collateral and otherwise, of the Trieste Spring Run, Nordic walking will have a leading role with all the events, FREE and OPEN TO ALL, which will start in Piazza Unità d’Italia. It will start today, Thursday 2 May from 6.00 pm, with the event dedicated to Urban Nordic Walking. We will continue tomorrow with the first Nordic workout from 5pm to 6pm and the fitness walking session from 6pm to 7.30pm. We will continue with the key day of Saturday 4 May, with a packed calendar: 9:00-10:00 Nordic Yoga, 10:00-11:00 fitness walking workout, 11:00-12:00 functional stretching to close with two of the most anticipated events, the presentation of what Speed ​​Hiking is from 3.00pm to 3.30pm and the presentation of the Certified Nordic Walking School from 4.00pm to 4.30pm.

4-5 MAY, THE WEEKEND INITIATIVES AND THE COMPETITIONS: The event will come to life over the weekend. On Saturday 4 May Piazza Unità will be the nerve center of the Trieste Spring Run. The race center for registration and bib collection will be open from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm. The “Sport, Prevention and Wellbeing” conference which will take place at the Salone degli Incanti from 8.00 to 17.00 is of great importance. Many activities are scheduled during the morning: Nordic yoga from 9.00 to 10.00, workout and fitness walking from 10.00 to 11.00, functional stretching from 11.00 to 12.00, and the Social Ride promoted by TreeSport, racing bike ride upon reservation on a city ​​route starting at 10.00 am. In the afternoon there will be a presentation of Speed ​​Hiking (3.00 pm) and the certified Nordic Walking school (4.00 pm). From 4.00pm to 6.00pm there will be space for the presentation of the associations supporting the event and the promotion of all the sports practiced. Following this, from 6.00 pm, there will be a presentation of the top runners and at 6.30 pm the 3×1 mini relay will start, reserved for rookie categories (5-11 years).

On Sunday 5 May there will be space for the races: at 9.00 the 21K Trieste Spring Roller Marathon will start from Duino and at 9.30 the Trieste 21K. The first Solidarity Relay, branded Dynamo Camp, is scheduled to start at 9.45 am from the Miramare crossroads, the new format with 3 participants and an overall time making up the ranking. The highly anticipated departure of the Bavisela Family Run from the Miramare crossroads is scheduled for 10.00 am. At 12.00 the winners of the 21K and the 21K Trieste Spring Roller Marathon of the Staffetta Solidale will be awarded. The largest groups of the Bavisela Family Run will also be rewarded and other prizes will be assigned by drawing. At 1.00 pm, with registration and independent participation, the “Wings for Life” charity race will start from Piazza Unità, arriving at the Barcola pine forest
