BRINDISI – Even more checks and use of special departments: after a series of significant criminal events, from the bomb exploded in San Pietro Vernotico near a grocery store, to the device triggered under a car in Torre Santa Sabina (Carovigno ), passing through the fire of seven vehicles of a fishing company in Fasano, a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety was held this afternoon (Thursday 2 May 2024) dedicated to a further and careful examination of the security situation in the Brindisi area.
The meeting, chaired by the prefect Luigi Carnevale, was attended by the prosecutor of the Republic of Brindisi, Antonio De Donno, the police commissioner Giampiero Lionetti and the territorial leaders of the police forces. During the meeting, through the profiles highlighted by all the participants, a focus was placed on the trend of criminal phenomena that have caused particular social alarm, especially in some municipalities in the north of Brindisi of particular tourist and hospitality interest, in order to prepare the most suitable prevention and contrast measures.
The prefect, in concert with the prosecutor, made the police aware of the need to intensify general prevention services and to implement a coordinated strategy, aimed at making the best use of territorial resources with respect to the complexity of the problems. At the same time, the need to base territorial control activities on the maximum visibility of the police forces was shared, also with the use of special departments with the aim of ensuring more incisive and effective interventions in all areas of interest operating.
