Artificial intelligence, the international study conference in Taranto

It will be held in the morning of Tuesday 7 May, as part of the celebrations of Cataldian School Day and the LVIII World Communications Day, the international study conference “Intelligent or artificial?”. The event, organized from the Archdiocese of Taranto, Teleperfomance Italia, from the Diocesan weekly New Dialogue, by the Provincial Education Office, with the patronage of the Order of Journalists of Puglia and all the partners of the San Cataldo 2024 Celebrations Committee, will be held in Cathedral Basilica of San Cataldo.

The organizers of the event, precisely in reference to artificial intelligence, report Pope Francis’ message: «The evolution of the so-called “artificial intelligence” systems, on which I have already reflected in the recent Message for the World Day of Peace, it is also radically changing information and communication and, through them, some foundations of civil coexistence. This is a change that affects everyone, not just professionals. The accelerated spread of marvelous inventions, whose functioning and potential are indecipherable to most of us, arouses amazement that oscillates between enthusiasm and disorientation and inevitably presents us with fundamental questions: what is man, what is his specificity and what will be the future of this species of ours called homo sapiens in the era of artificial intelligence? How can we remain fully human and orient the cultural change underway towards the good?”.
