«Positive assessment emerged from the last municipal council»

The Molfetta Popolare group, represented by Pino Amato, Maridda Poli and Robert Amato, commented on the last municipal council meeting on 29 April, whose most important point on the agenda was certainly the 2023 management report. To follow, the press note:

“Molfetta Popolare, having carried out a careful study of the documents provided by the offices, finding those positive cash figures, those investments in the desired public works and some proposals in favor of the city that had been put forward, can only say that it is satisfied with the work carried out. The first of the proposals made which we have been asking this administration to provide for some time was the budgeting for the purchase of the so-called “dinosaur land”, a cultural site which together with the Pulo and the former monastery of the monks, also ‘it purchased by the municipality, will compose a network of archaeological and cultural interest which, if exploited properly, will be able to give this city an even more interesting tourist development”.

“The second proposal made was to strengthen disabled transport and this administration, which has never failed to provide its contribution to the weakest groups, has proceeded with the purchase of a new vehicle which will strengthen the already extensive offer for the same transport; we hope that this can be strengthened even more because the support and attention for the elderly and disabled must always be high. A proposal for the future would be to open a counter managed by the Municipality deals with foreign communities and all those practices that require the institution to be close to them, it would be a great step in the development of our welfare towards the many communities that have integrated into our city with great civic sense”.

“Another positive figure in this budget is certainly the investments in public works, we are talking about fixed assets equal to approximately 56 million euros, investments which concern the strengthening of our city and which measure how much an administration is influencing its change, investments by our municipality but also by the 10 PNRR projects appropriately intercepted and anticipated and on which there is no risk of interruption, structures such as the municipal swimming pool, new sports hall, waterfront, new docks on the old port, Molfetta-Giovinazzo cycle path and of course the large investment in the port of Molfetta; everything expressed we find those programmatic lines that are part of the project that we supported with this coalition and that pact with the city for which we were elected and that is why our vote in the council municipality could only be favourable”.

“We therefore reject to the sender the attempt of those who, for personal and opportunistic positions, attempt to dirty our political action within this administration which, although at times remaining critical because it is free from external influences, remains, however, faithful to a pact that Molfetta has made popular not only with this coalition but above all with the city.
Asking for political centrality certainly cannot be equated with someone’s desire to ask for replacements of administrative and/or institutional positions to find that personal visibility which has nothing to do with the good of the community”.

“We are and always will be for a discussion on issues to be a proactive force within this majority, our work is there for all to see and we are not afraid of comparisons or attacks of any kind with those who rise from one day to the next and then diminish this Mayor and this administration are playing a bullish game hoping for political tips. We also respect the political assessments that may also come from the opposition even if we do not agree with them, they must do their fair share but cannot hope to count on political forces that they have. the duty to respect the political pact stipulated with the city during the electoral campaign and that they will not be responsible for consigning the city to yet another year of administration”.
