The new exhibition opens tomorrow (3 May). Karl Kopinski: Wearing the Pinkcreated by Lucca Comics & Games in collaboration with the Municipality of Lucca, on the occasion of the Giro d’Italia.
Great cycling enthusiast and long-time friend of Lucca Comics & Games, Kopinski created a series of portraits, including the unforgettable Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi, Francesco Moser, Marco Pantani, Eddy Merckx and contemporary champions Mark Cavendish, Bob Jungels, Bradley Wiggins and Tadej Pogačar.
The exhibition, which can be visited with free admission, will be inaugurated tomorrow (3 May) at 5pm (in the presence of the artist) in the church of San Franceschetto and was created thanks to the support of partner companies who enthusiastically embraced the project from its inception, starting with Cmon (leading company in the gaming sector and great friends of Karl Kopinski himself and Lucca Comics & Games), which created the official catalog available for purchase in the exhibition spaces, and from Fosber, who created the scenographic installations.
Furthermore, thanks to the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, Grimaldi Impianti, Paolini Digital Print and Sport Promotion for supporting the entire working group and making everything possible.
Saturday 4th and Sunday (5th May), from 6pm to 7pm, in the Church of San Franceschetto, it will be the turn of the signing sessionsduring which Karl Kopinski will be available to sign copies of the catalog and meet admirers. No reservation is required.
Meanwhile, last Tuesday (30 April), the first large installations dedicated to pedal heroes. Huge transparent and colored marbles, up to six meters high, to celebrate a beautiful sport in the manner of Lucca Comics & Games, recalling the games that many played and still play on the beach. The installations reproduce some of the works on display, created by the English artist Karl Kopinski. Tomorrow, on the occasion of the inauguration, the last “giant marbles” will be installed Piazza San Francesco. Today, due to bad weather, one of the installations already mounted in Piazza San Michele was removed, but only temporarily. It will be relocated as soon as possible.
