VICENZA, NURSERY ALARM: ENDLESS WAITING LISTS
Families alarmed in Vicenza due to the lack of places in municipal nursery schools. From the provisional rankings of those admitted, published on the website of the Municipality of Vicenza, it can be clearly seen that in the 10 kindergartens managed by the administration, only 200 children were awarded a place, compared to over 450 applications for the year 2024/2025. We remind you that each family in the application can express two preferences at the time of the request. In summary, therefore, around 230 children are on the waiting list and another 50 have ended up in the reserves because they are uncommon residents.
A worrying picture that drags families into a state of anguish and uncertainty. The demand, it is clear, is well beyond the current supply, which has almost doubled, despite the drastic drop in births. But what causes this out-of-control trend? Firstly, the reduction of fees by the Municipality of Vicenza which makes access to nursery school more sustainable and the growing importance of this support for families and working parents. The most popular nursery schools with the most requests are Piarda and Turra which, as you can see from the images, have endless waiting lists. The administration reassures that the offer will in any case be increased by 122 places with the Pnrr investments in nursery schools.
