Statue found at the Marina, it is a modern artefact

CIVITAVECCHIA – Particular discovery yesterday evening in the body of water in front of the Marina: the lower portion of a statue. All kinds of conjectures immediately arose and there were those who even spoke of a discovery dating back to Roman times.

In short, within a few hours the most absurd hypotheses have made the rounds on social media but apparently it is a simple artifact of the modern era. Translated? A garden statue. The National Museum of Civitavecchia, directed by Dr. Lara Anniboletti, is convinced of this, having already taken action together with the Superintendence in February after receiving some reports of an apparently ancient statue in the sea.

The Superintendency left nothing to chance, some divers dived to carry out accurate surveys on the statue, managing to document – given the presence of some concrete and plastic parts – that it was not an artefact from an ancient era. The one pulled out of the water on Monday evening is precisely the statue that divers had already investigated in February.

It certainly seemed strange that such a find had never been noticed by anyone.
