ANCONA – “Telling the story of the Marche by drawing on its literary masters, its folklore traditions, its landscapes, its myths and legends means opening up an invaluable narrative treasure chest, which has remained closed for a long time”. This is the objective of the new cultural column of Fondazione Marche Cultura edited by Cesare Catà, philosopher and theatrical performer, author of essays on philosophy and literature as well as a great connoisseur of ancient myths and folk tales. Guided by the creativity that characterizes him, the author has created a fascinating journey of 11 episodes dedicated to secret and mysterious stories that had the Marche region and/or some of its most illustrious citizens as their theatre.

Starting from dark and haunting events that occurred in our land, the videos will tell the story of eminent personalities and places in the Region from an innovative point of view through an imaginary dialogue with an interlocutor in the pub.

Over a pint, Cesare Catà’s story-telling narration will immerse us in a fantastic and magical world that stimulates imagination and creativity through a powerful form of communication that combines entertainment, teaching and connection with the history and culture of the Marche region. Preserving and transmitting its richness is the intent that drives the MARCHETELLING project which also wants to offer the public a break from everyday reality by opening insights into some unsolved events, full of mystery and enchantment.

The videos lasting approximately 5 minutes will populate the cultural column promoted by Fondazione Marche Cultura through weekly publications on the institution’s social channels and a dedicated page on the website. Every Friday, the interpreter and brilliant author, who knows how to capture and excite the public like few others, will tell how “the soul of the Marche and its culture reverberate in ancient stories, never lost, capable of communicating to the world the unique wonder and priceless of this land.”

“Historically, the culture of the Marche has long been reluctant to talk about its riches and its artistic, landscape, human and architectural assets – states the philosopher Cesare Catà -; perhaps a reflection of the shy and guarded spirit of this people who have always preferred to live away from the world, on the one hand this attitude has perhaps preserved, in the Marche, an anthropological and civil authenticity that has been lost elsewhere. On the other hand, however, this “storytelling deficit”, a typical trait of the Marche people, has also hidden the beauty of this place from the outside”.

The time has therefore come to reveal it through the profound, ironic, engaging and disruptive gaze of Cesare Catà, an all-round artist from the Marche region.

For the Marche Cultura Foundation it is a source of pride to start this collaboration with a champion of storytelling, an intellectual who has been able to chart a path and a style that are uniquely his. Combining irony and depth, Cesara Catà is capable of flying very high while remaining popular, she explores places and characters, managing to give an original and fascinating edge every time. Even with this project, in which you will talk about our land, you will be able to enchant.
