TUSCANY / EMPOLI – The sites contaminated by Keu in Tuscany would be more than the 13 so far included in the DDA investigation which involves in various capacities 6 companies and 24 people, including leather entrepreneurs, disposal companies, environmental technicians, politicians. This is what has been reported – and not denied – in recent days by some media outlets. Not only. In recent days the TAR accepted the appeal of Chimet and Tca on the reclamation of the Bucine site, establishing that the person who sent the toxic material for disposal must not pay, but the disposal companies: a decision that risks being a precedent for a shower of appeals. The Region has announced an appeal but in the meantime the reclamation of 10 sites is at a standstill.
Among these also the one along the SR in Brusciana. “We are worried about the reclamation mreading the papers it was conceivable that the Keu had also been buried elsewhere” he tells Novaradio Samuela Marconcini, of the No Keu Permanent Assembly: “We are not interested in saying ‘we were right’ but in seeing something done. Yet in the trial which opened recently, it is worrying that the Ministry of the Environment was not a civil party. There is a deafening silence on the matter from the authorities.”
