Gran Sasso Acqua has started the construction site for the construction of underground services in the San Marciano area, in the historic center of L’Aquila

This is the second lot of the second section and includes a vast area that extends from Piazza San Marciano to the south along a stretch of via XX Settembre, while to the north it comes close to via Garibaldi.

The important aspect is the resumption of works, which have been stopped since 2021. Today the president of the GSA Ivo Pagliari, the engineer Mario Di Gregorio and the Rup Marta Fiorelli illustrated the technical details of the work.

Di Gregorio explained that the works were delivered in 2020, then problems arose due to interference with the various networks present, so the tunnel was eliminated almost everywhere, keeping it only in the largest roads, using a methodology that allows to make activities and residents coexist.

The San Giovanni-San Marciano lot involves a cost of 7.6 million euros and was awarded to the Temporary Business Network (RTI) made up of Conscoop (Consortium of production and work cooperatives) as agent and Beccaceci Srl as principal. The expected duration of the works is 30 months.

The lot includes sections of inspectable tunnel, with sections that adapt to the needs of the road, a differentiation due precisely to the presence of particularly narrow alleys, being in one of the oldest portions of the historic city centre.

In particular, the tunnel will be built only on viale Giovanni XXIII, viale Duca degli Abruzzi, via XX Settembre and via Sallustio. Even the polifera which will affect all the other roads, however, will allow maintenance operations without compromising the road surface.

“We have worked and continue to do so also for the subsequent lots of the second phase which will start in the next few months – said Pagliari – to reduce the inconvenience to citizens as much as possible, starting from residents and traders, planning road closures and always guaranteeing pedestrian paths on the sides of the roads”.
