LATINA – Friday 3 May at 6pmit Nicolosi Cultural Spacein Via Filippo Corridoni in Latina, the reading will be held “Written Inside”, poems and stories collected by CPIA teachers who taught lessons during school periods, in the Latina prison, to also allow prisoners to obtain their diploma. The presentation of the reading is curated by Maria Corsetti, while the stories will be introduced by Vincenza Sanseverino and Anna Rita Mancini. The narrative voices will be Adriana Marucco and Serena Marangoni.
The initiative takes place as part of the collective exhibition “Fiori dal Muro” of the women of the Solidarity Art Laboratory of the Latina prison, an initiative which involved 26 women prisoners. The works on display are available for fundraising which will allow the collection of materials and equipment for the prison’s art and craft workshops. During the exhibition it is possible to request the catalogue, which includes testimonies and descriptions of the works created by the 26 authors, together with the photographic project curated by Marianna Lanza.
“A one-of-a-kind artistic and artisanal journey – say the organizers -. The project, born thanks to the collaboration between the Spazio Culturale Nicolosi association, the Terzo Lotto IACP | APS and the Management of the Latina Prison, represents an important moment of expression for the participants who, through sketches and ideas transformed into works of art and craftsmanship, gave life to their own “flower”, thus testifying to their own path of change and growth staff”.
The Laboratory is an integral part of a re-educational path started in 2013 with the Solidarte association which, through culture and autobiographical expression, wanted to offer new and different opportunities for change and emancipation. The initiative coordinated by the artist Giuliana Bocconcello (in the photo on the left) contributed to consolidating the collaboration between the prison and the social promotion association Cocci e Coriandoli, chaired by Claudia Piccoli. This partnership will continue to support artistic and educational projects inside and outside prison, promoting social and cultural inclusion.
The Fiori dal Muro exhibition will remain open to visitors on Sunday 5 May at the Spazio Culturale Nicolosi, in Via Filippo Corridoni in Latina.
