SUBVERSIVES AND SUBVERSIVES
Photographic exhibition curated by Michele Lapini

as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the State Archives of Bologna, Tuesday May 7, In the Cloister of the Celestines (Piazza dei Celestini, 4), the exhibition “Subversives and Subversives” that the photographer Michele Lapini created and curated for the new exhibition space of the Archive, with the support of the Hera Group.

Subversives and Subversives. Stories of stalking, checks, interceptions. Stories of rebellious, marginalized or misunderstood lives, of “people dangerous for the security of the State”. These are the stories told through the lens of Michele Lapini, who followed and documented the restoration and digitization works carried out for the Art Bonus Art bonus project “Adopt a subversive!”launched by the State Archives of Bologna in 2021. But they are also the stories of those who take care of these lives preserved in the files produced by the Bologna Police Headquarters and today at the State Archives, keeping their memory alive.

Lapini starts from the Art bonus project and captures the objects of this intervention campaign, the documents captured in all their beauty and fragility but his gaze goes beyond, to show the public what happens behind the scenes of a cultural institute like the Archive of State, whose institutional mandate is to conserve and enhance the sources of history, to make them accessible and save them from oblivion, becoming the guardian of the memory of a community.

How to visit the exhibition. The exhibition, with free entry, can be visited on the days of Tuesday and Thursday, from 4.00pm to 6.00pmwith entrance from Piazza dei Celestini, 4.

The Celestine cloister. The exhibition Sovversivi e sovversive also inaugurates the new exhibition space of the State Archives of Bologna, the Celestine cloister. The cloister, which overlooks the central square of the same name, had never been open to the public and was specially restored and set up on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Archive, with the aim of transforming it into a point of reference for the cultural life of the city, where a rich and varied calendar of events and cultural proposals will be hosted throughout the year.
