Descriptive text here

One of the greatest European films of the 90s returns to the cinema in a restored 4k version: Hate by Mathieu Kassovitz. A film that has become an instant classic in terms of themes and style, which traverses the blurred contours of justice and explores the contradictions of its protagonists. The work will be at the cinema La Compagnia di Firenze from 11 to 16 May.

Twenty-four hours in the life of Vinz, Hubert and Saïd, three friends from the Parisian suburbs in the aftermath of the clashes between the police and civilians after which a boy from the neighborhood, Abdel, finds himself dying due to the violent abuse of the police. The three, full of anger and with a gun in their hands, ponder how to take revenge.

Three protagonists with opposing characters, three ways of facing life, three ways of being pissed off and an always very personal idea of revenge. A story that is still almost daily news today, told in such a captivating way that it received the award for best director at the Cannes Film Festival in 1995 and become a point of reference for urban culture from there to come.

There is the first Spike Lee and Scorsese, classic cinema with its elegance and independent cinema with its urgency, but above all the ability to transform the essential into a sort of magical realism.
