The rain did not stop the ceremony: the “Pozza del Leone” park, designed by the Municipality of Chiusi della Verna and created in collaboration with the Consorzio di Bonifica 2 Alto Valdarno was inaugurated.
With the cutting of the ribbon, the beautiful green area where illuminated pedestrian paths wind and where there are refreshment and picnic areas is now available to the community: a meeting and socializing point, a reference point for sport, well-being and relaxation.
Mayor Giampaolo Tellini announces this with pride, having wanted it decisively by obtaining the necessary resources within the framework of the Casentino River H2O Contract.
In all, 180 thousand euros (50 thousand euros financed by the Gal, the rest with PNRR resources), which made it possible to shape the new precious green lung.
But since there is no usability where there is hydraulic risk, the project took shape when the Consorzio di Bonifica 2 Alto Valdarno, through financing made available by a civil protection ordinance, intervened to make the area safer. inhabited area, the school complex and what would become the Corsalone river park.
“The works started in the spring of 2023 with the insertion of a cliff of approximately 200 meters to defend the right bank, which over time had been damaged and overwhelmed by floods,” explains engineer Enrico Righeschi of the hydrogeological defense sector.
Subsequently the municipality completed the project, giving shape to the work which contributes to enhancing the territory and represents an important example of collaboration between entities.
“The River Park represents another objective achieved for our municipality which, thanks to the collaboration and intervention of the Consortium, returns a green social area to the community, in a safe and redeveloped context.
At the same time, the maintenance commitment continues in all those areas that run along the river and which in summer become a real point of reference for Casentino residents and tourists looking for shaded and cool areas”, said Mayor Giampaolo Tellini.
“In addition to the hydraulic risk mitigation intervention carried out with public funding, the Reclamation Consortium carries out ordinary maintenance work on an annual basis which, near the summer, will also continue upstream of the river park, making it more accessible and accessible, among other things. the numerous “pools” are accessible, which have always been very popular and considered our “sea””, commented the general director Francesco Lisi.
The ribbon cutting scheduled for May 1st was also an opportunity to offer a thought to the workers.
