PERUGIA – The anti-chaos plan for the Giro d’Italia is taking shape. Mayor Andrea Romizi signed the closure orders for schools and some cemeteries, four to be precise, on the day of the seventh stage, the Perugia-Foligno time trial. The pink caravan will be marching on May 10th and will arrive at the finish line set in the heart of the city, Piazza IV Novembre. But already upon entering the municipal territory, the Collestrada area, some measures are necessary to limit traffic and movements along the line.

At a general level, the broadest provision concerns the closure of every school and university for the whole day (union ordinance 639). Public and private educational services for children are included and teaching activities and secretarial activities will also be suspended.
Cemeteries chapter. With ordinance number 640, the mayor ordered the closure of four cemeteries to the public on Friday the 10th. The monumental one, Monterone, Ponte San Giovanni and Collestrada. The consequent suspension of any cemetery operations and funeral transport is also expected. The measures are taken, the ordinances underline, to “guarantee public order, the correct conduct of the event and prevent inconveniences and risks to public safety”.
PATH
The route of the time trial has been defined for some time: starting from Foligno, then Spello, Bastia, Santa Maria degli Angeli and entering the municipal territory from Collestrada. Then Ospedalone San Francesco road, via della Valtiera – SS75 underpass, Ponte Vecchio (Ponte San Giovanni), Strada Tiberina Nord railway underpass, Valleceppi Bridge, via dei Narcisi-Casaglia, Perugia road – Ponte Valleceppi (cemetery), via Enrico dal Pozzo ( against traffic), via XIV Settembre (against traffic), Corso Cavour (pedestrian), Viale Indipendenza, Piazza Italia (against traffic), Corso Vannucci and finally arrival in Piazza IV Novembre. All areas will be closed from 8am to 5.30pm.
THE INDICATIONS
The stage committee also released a series of information. For companies, it is recommended that staff enter early by 8am and leave after 5.30pm. Regarding the centre, loading and unloading must be carried out by 8am and parking bans will be in force from the previous evening (viale Indipendenza, piazza Italia, piazza Matteotti, piazza Piccino, via Bartolo, via Checchi, via Bistoni, via Santa Margherita).
