The simplification of the CAP is a first step that must now be strengthened with an even clearer reduction of the too many obligations that weigh on the shoulders of companies, forced to spend a third of their time keeping up with bureaucracy. This is what Coldiretti stated on the occasion of the approval of the proposal to modify the common agricultural policy by the European Parliament. The exceptions to the cross-compliance rules for BCAA 5 (land working), 6 (minimum soil cover), 7 (crop rotation), 8 (fallen land) and 9 (ban on plowing permanent meadows in Natura 2000 areas) are important.
“The revision of the CAP is the result of the peaceful mobilizations of our Organization with thousands of farmers in the streets of Brussels who came from all over Italy and Piedmont – highlight the president of Coldiretti Novara-Vco Fabio Tofi and the Director Luciano Salvadori – . We also obtained the extension of state aid, within the temporary framework for Ukraine, a necessary measure to achieve a debt moratorium, i.e. the possibility of suspending mortgage installments to meet the economic difficulties that businesses they are living. Now it is necessary to increase resources to support agricultural companies.”
