The shareholders’ meeting of Tuscany Rehabilitation Clinic approved the 2023 budget. The sign is positive. “A balanced budget – the president defines it Albarosa Fuccini – with a profit margin which was allocated to asset consolidation and technological and staff training investments. Approximately 86,000 euros (despite the fact that revenues are conditioned by tariffs that have been stable for over a decade) contribute to the consolidation of the Clinic’s assets which, over the course of these years, have increased by approximately 50%”. An asset entirely intended to strengthen research and services to patients with continuous technological and instrumental updating.

The 2023 budget confirms the role of the CRT in the Tuscan healthcare landscape. “With over 5,000 patients treated, of which 1,000 in hospital and another 4,000 outpatients to whom approximately 50,000 treatments were provided; with gross revenues that have exceeded 12 million euros for the first time, it is the main healthcare operator in the rehabilitation field of the entire ASL TSE, with its historic offices in Valdarno and with a new operational structure also in Arezzo. Over 200 staff are involved, including 172 employees and 30 healthcare professional collaborators in the rehabilitation field and it represents an absolute point of reference for the entire AUSL TSE regarding the care of patients with serious acquired brain injuries (GCA)”.

This year the CRT celebrates 25 years old of uninterrupted activity and has expanded not only the range of services but also the shareholder structure. During 2019, the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Senese (AUOS) also entered as a shareholder and the shareholders of the CRT are the public health bodies of the relevant territory, AUSL TSE and AUOS, which hold, respectively, 58.90 and 5%. The other shareholders are the Municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini which has approximately 17% and the IRCCS ICS Maugeri SB which, with 19%, represents the only private shareholder present in the shareholding structure.

“Over the years – recalls President Albarosa Fuccini – the CRT has exceeded 10 million euros in investments dedicated to technologies and devices. Furthermore, an important translational research activity in the rehabilitation field has been consolidated, i.e. capable of being immediately transferred to treatment activities. The main aim has always been to enhance the healthcare rehabilitation activity within the treatment cycle as early rehabilitation management is the discriminating element for a better rehabilitation outcome”.

The board of directors expressed, during the shareholders’ meeting, its satisfaction in participating in the provision of a service which touches the moments of greatest fragility of families due to acute events that are often unpredictable and which overturn the daily lives of those involved. The support of voluntary associations that collaborate in supporting families and preparing the patient’s exit from hospital rehabilitation departments to their residence and/or to other healthcare facilities is fundamental. In particular, ATRACTO and AVO Valdarno.

In addition to the president, the entire board of directors, composed of the vice president Monica Bettoniby Dr Giuseppe Fraizzoliby the professor Alessandro Rossi and the managing director Maurizio Baldi, highlighted how the constant recognition of the scientific work carried out, which strengthens and supports clinical activities towards patients, represents the best litmus test of continuous evolution in the treatment of the effects of acute events which, unfortunately, affect, without warning, many residents in the territory of the AUSL TSE. Certainly among the most recurring events that are not related to specific pathologies, domestic and road accidents stand out. It is therefore appropriate to highlight the need for greater awareness on the part of citizens that the consequences of these accidents are often disabling and harbinger of serious health and social problems for both patients and their families. Therefore a appeal to take these possible consequences into account and not to underestimate home and road safety.

Development programs for 2024: “In addition to completing the work on the new San Giovanni Valdarno facility intended for activities for the developmental age, work will continue for the consolidation of activities in the Terranuova Bracciolini health center to strengthen activities for citizens residing in Valdarno. The strategy for strengthening local services – concludes President Fuccini – is the strong point that is being developed and improved to give all residents of the municipalities of Valdarno the same opportunity for a rehabilitative response in the face of acute problems both in the neurological, both cardiological and orthopedic fields”. Furthermore, the objective is also to dedicate ever-increasing attention to services for patients of developmental age.
