Verona trembles: earthquake on Garda felt in Malcesine and Brentonico.
Yesterday, Wednesday 1st May, a double earthquake shook the area of Lake Garda, between the provinces of Verona, Malcesine, and Trento. The scare has put residents on alert, but without causing damage significant at least for the moment.
The first shock, with a magnitude of 2.2, was recorded around 1pm, with its epicenter underground in Malcesine. There second, slightly stronger with a magnitude of 2.7, was notified a few minutes after 6pm, with epicenter in Brentonico.
The shocks have generated a certain amount of agitation among residents of Alto Garda and surrounding areasas testified on social networks. Luckily they caused no damage to people or structures. In any case theintensity, even if relatively low, of the tremors, the rapidity with which they were felt and their temporal proximity, have nevertheless fueled a certain worry in the two communities.
The experts point out that the area of Lake Garda is known for its seismic activity, albeit generally of low intensity. For them events like these fpart of the normal geological dynamics of the region.
