Fake driving licences: investigations by the Traffic Police, Provincial Police and Guardia di Finanza have made it possible to close the circle of a deal worth over 1 million euros and more than 2 thousand driving certificates which in the Brescia area alone could have been obtained through deception and scams. At the moment there are as many as 60 suspects registered in the crime register, with 4 arrests already carried out in these hours by agents and soldiers. The precautionary custody orders are aimed at 4 individuals under investigation for having set up a criminal association aimed at obtaining type B driving licenses and driver qualification cards (the Cqc) for the professional driving of heavy vehicles on behalf of third parties.

The investigations of the Guardia di Finanza were directed against the owner of 4 driving schools, with the seizure of over 1 million euros: the owner and his supporters were accused of crimes of criminal association, corruption, incitement to corruption and forgery in a public document, in addition to the specific special crime of taking driving tests using suggestion systems. We are also working on the hypothesis of extortion of candidates.

2 thousand licenses at risk

Among the first cases in Italy, the so-called “telephone operator”, i.e. the remote prompter for exams, was also identified: he was the person in charge of remote prompting, obviously prohibited and illegal during exams. “Given the vastness of the phenomenon – we read in a joint note from the police – and the social importance of the operation, with diffusion at a national level, further investigative investigations are underway, with the analysis by the investigators of over 2 thousand licenses (type A, B, C and Cqc) obtained in the Brescia area by individuals coming from the entire national territory”.

Various searches are also underway, also conducted with the technical-operational support of the Central Organized Crime Investigation Service of the Guardia di Finanza, with the use of modern technological instruments and two “cash dog” dog units (the dogs that, literally, are able to locate hidden cash thanks to their nose). Further details will be revealed in the morning, following a press conference.
